Felicia’s Blog

This book has certainly been a journey. Although the Lord laid it on my heart to write a book a while back, I didn’t pick up my pen until April 2008. It’s hard to believe that God allowed the book to formulate in that amount of time, especially considering that I had a busy work schedule. For the past year, I’ve dived into writing. This has been my labor of love. I had no idea that publishing a book entailed so much work. There are licenses, endorsements, ISBN numbers, graphic artists, photographers and printers. And then there’s also the tedious work of formatting, advertising and the copyright process. All of that work is not including the actual brainstorming, writing, laughing, typing, deleting, dreaming, reading, praying, re-reading, remembering, editing, crunching of papers and…ah yes, getting frustrated. Through this process, I learned more about what it means to be committed to God’s calling. It wasn’t always easy, but the Lord was faithful and carried me through the help and encouragement of my family.

Often I found myself not wanting to complete the task and then the Lord would gently nudge me through people, a sermon, or a book. He would remind me that I needed to get back on track. For some reason, He wanted me to write this book at this point of my life, not later. It was as though He kept whispering, “The time is now. Don’t put it off.” I’m not exactly sure why or how He will use me, but I am eager to see what will transpire.

Writing and logistical work aside, this book has really made me think. With a full schedule, it is often difficult for me to find a moment to just sit down and contemplate things. Putting down my life on paper has been a defining process. It’s solidified who I am and what I believe. My prayer is that the Lord will use this book to encourage and speak to people’s hearts.
